Sergio Araujo is a carioca, journalist and advertising and art photographer.
Graduated music teacher, with a postgraduate degree in electroacoustic music in France (composition and musical pedagogy), and bassoonist and clarinetist in the Camerata de Santa Teresa chamber ensemble.
He was a music producer, presenting and producing programs about contemporary music and jazz on the radio.
He has been working professionally in the photographic market for over 40 years.
He started his work as a photographer as a free-lancer, in the 70s, doing the photographic coverage of the series of shows entitled “Seis e Meia”, at the João Caetano Theater, a project developed by Albino Pinheiro.
He worked in concert and theater photography, but soon afterwards extended his work to photojournalism at the agency 'Fotosíntese', of which he became a partner.
As a natural outcome of his activity, he entered the advertising market, where he won several awards at regional and national levels.
With his connection in the visual arts, he was, little by little, being asked to perform several works in this area, where he came to stand out.

Since the early 1980s, when he photographed the works of Waltércio Caldas for the exhibition catalog “0 é 1” and “Ping Ping”, he has been photographing works by various artists for the publication of books and art catalogs.
Among his photographic essays, made for catalogs, the following stand out: the works of Iole de Freitas (Museu Vale, Centro Cultural Hélio Oiticica, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Casa França Brasil, Fundação Iberê Camargo (RS), Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Laura Marsiaj Gallery); Eduardo Frota: “Extensive Interventions X” (Museu Vale and Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro); Nélson Félix: “Camiri” (Museu Vale and exhibition at MM Galeria de Arte – Belo Horizonte - MG); Nelson Leirner: “Dressed in White” (Museu Vale); José Patrício: "The Number" (Caixa Cultural – RJ); the Marcantônio Villaça collection; Gabriela Machado, among others..
For Casa França Brasil he carried out numerous essays for the catalogs of his exhibitions. Among others: Laura Lima, Daniel Senise, Boltanski, Afonso Tostes, Laércio Redondo, Cristina Iglesias, José Rufino, Valerie Belin.
He also conducted several photographic essays at Casa Daros.
Among the books, there are many works about renowned Brazilian artists such as Sérgio Camargo, Goeldi (two different editions), Milton Dacosta, Vital Brasil, Mestre Valentim, Victor Meirelles, José Patrício.
